• All productions made on 35mm, 16mm, Digital and video formats are eligible for applying to the festival. All films to be submitted to the festival should be recorded on a PAL system one of DVD/HD/BLUERAY.
• All films must be subtitled in English and English dialog list should be submitted.
• In order to be used for the preselection, for all sorts of communications and catalogues, applicants should send to the festival the following material:
• If you have HD version (h.264 .MOV format) 720p or 1080p copy of the film
• PAL system DVD copy of the film (It's not necessary for HD version)
• 2 still photos from the film (at least 720X576 pxel, jpg format)
• A high quality photograph of the director
• Director's short biography (in English)
• Director's filmography ( in English)
• Synopsis of the film (in English).
National and International Competition Regulations:
• International Izmir Short Film Festival opens a short film competition on national and international categories. Applicants should make the applications via www.izmirkisafilm.org online. Other applications will not be considered. The applicant should indicate which competition (national or international) he/she is applying to.
• It is not possible to apply to two competitions with the same film. However, national competition selection comittee might suggest a film to the international competition jury. In this case, the film's director is informed.
• In the national and international competitions, a winner will be selected in each of the fiction, experimental, documentary and animation categories. Jury might also give an award to a film outside the scope of these categories.
• In order to compete in the national competition, the director or one of the producers must be Turkish citizen.
• All films less than 30 minutes are eligible for competitions.
Only films made in 2010 and 2011 can be submitted.
• Films submitted to the festival can be submitted to other national and international competitions and can be awarded.
• Applicants might submit more than one film.
• Films selected for screening and nominated for awards will be announced on www.izmirkisafilm.org on November 1, 2011.
• Films that are received at the Festival Offices after September 1 0, 2011 will not participate in the Festival screenings or competitions.
• Festival keeps its right to withdraw the films which are not technically suitable for screening.
• Preselection committee is composed of artists, academics and professionals selected in and/or out of the festival management. Main jury will be announced later.
Special Conditions
Festival management, if demanded, might give the permission for the films selected to be screened in "out of competition" categories of national and international film festivals, in academic institutions and proper cultural events. In this case festival management informs the involved parties who have their signatures on the application form if only possible. Films selected by the festival management might be screened via internet sites in collaboration with the International Izmir Short Film Festival for only one time within a special program. All directors of the films selected for the festival will receive a certificate.
• Films submitted can not be withdrawn after October 16, 2011. Films will be screened to the public in halls which are found proper by the festival management and according to the official program. During the screenings, a change can not be offered to the festival management or the hall directors.
